The species to look out for in August: Eurasian spoonbill.

Bird migration is in full swing.

Eurasian spoonbills, little egrets and waders are everywhere.

The storks

The young storks’ flying skills are improving gradually. They leave the Zwin around mid-August.  From this time onwards, white storks are rarely observed in the area.

You can still see common tree frogs in the right spots. The salt-tolerant plant species that are so typical of the Zwin plain,  such as common sea-lavender,  have reached their peak during this period.
