Bird ringing

Zwin is a "hotspot" for migratory birds. Researchers obviously recognised this long ago. It explains why birds have been ringed at Zwin for decades.

During our bird ringing demonstrations, a ringer expertly explains why the bird is being ringed. It is a unique opportunity to learn a lot about the life of birds and to see them close up.

!The ringing of the birds depends greatly on the weather. It is possible that ringing might not be possible on some days!

Ringing dates:

Ringing will take place in the ringing hut/story hut in the cabin trail, always from 10:00 to 12:00 hrs.
Depending on the type of weather, the ringing may end earlier than 12:00 hrs, so make sure to get there on time if you want to see everything!

  • Every day in August from 10 till 12 am.
  • Every day in September from 10am
  • Due to bad weather conditions, bird ringing will not take place on September 11.
